                                                                                TEACHER

 

JOB GOAL: To increase students understanding of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math                                                     

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Arizona certified elementary or secondary teacher
  • A minimum of 5 years of teaching experience with excellent evaluations
  • Must be appropriately certified in elementary, grades 1-8 or secondary, grades 6-12.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in teaching evidenced by principal’s evaluations and student achievement
  • Demonstrates knowledge of state and national standards and district adopted curriculum and instructional materials
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and works effectively in a professional learning community
  • Demonstrates knowledge of a wide range of assessments and use of data information systems
  • Views self as a learner and seeks professional challenges and demonstrates initiative
  • Demonstrates professional development skills and works effectively with adults
  • Demonstrates ability in working with diverse populations (ELL, Special Education)
  • Continues professional growth through participation in educational meetings and defined professional growth opportunities, reading professional literature, and exchanging ideas with colleagues
  • Continues professional development in the area of research-based exemplary practices in curriculum, instruction and assessment
  • Evidence of strong interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate in oral and written form
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Governing Board may find appropriate and acceptable

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated
  2. Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs of students
  3. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students
  4. Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of the immediate supervisor
  5. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects to communicate these objectives to students
  6. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provides and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved
  7. Strives to implement by instruction and action the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives
  8. Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required
  9. Identifies the learning problems of students on a regular basis and seeks the assistance of specialists as required
  10. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
  11. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation
  12. Assesses progress and preparation of students for all district and state assessments
  13. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct as well as develops reasonable rules for classroom behavior and procedures while maintaining order in the classroom in a fair and just manner
  14. Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for educational related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms (Open House, Parent/Teacher conferences, etc.)
  15. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence
  16. Cooperates with the administration in planning and participating in appropriate in-service training programs at the school or district level
  17. Shares responsibility during the school day for the supervision of all students in all areas of the school
  18. Continues professional growth through attendance at workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced coursework at institutions of higher learning
  19. Demonstrates awareness of Governing Board policies and State Statutes related to job responsibilities
  20. Collaboratively partners with Technology teachers to integrate cross-curricular learning opportunities
  21. Exhibits effective classroom management strategies and skills
  22. Monitor, inventory, and organize a variety of classroom supplies, resources, and materials
  23. Embraces new STEM programs that support department vision and goals
  24. Delivers STEM oriented instruction through project based learning
  25. Open to learning new and innovative strategies to prepare students for the 21st Century
  26. Has experience with designing and executing lessons centered on STEM learning
  27. Demonstrates knowledge and willingness to integrate STEM, Robotics, Coding, and additional 21st Century best practices to ensure students are college and career ready
  28. Provides motivation for students to learn and engage in STEM careers
  29. All other duties as assigned

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Employment 213 days (subject to annual calendar change).Salary schedule approved by the Governing Board.
